PAL Summer Wrap Up!
Where did the time go!? It seems like just yesterday we were kicking off summer, and now we are only a few short weeks away from the beginning of the new school year. Summer break came and left too soon but from the looks of it, it seems like our PAL kids had a blast!
This summer we had a series of field trips that spanned throughout the Bay Area. We took our kids up north to go ziplining in Sonoma, trips to the San Francisco Zoo, fishing in Sausalito, and even to water park in Fremont!
It's been a fun and fruitful summer and we can't wait for more field trips next year!

PAL Annual Golf Tournament - Individual Spots and Foursomes Available on August 7th!
Registration for individual spots and foursomes begin on Monday, August 7th. Join us at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links golf course for our annual golf tournament. You can register for just yourself or as a foursome for you and your buddies!
We will have a full day of golf along the beautiful coast on both the Old and Ocean courses, food and refreshments, exclusive tee prizes, and an unforgettable reception to close out the day. This is one of our most popular charity events and is guaranteed to sell out!
Sponsorships are also available, so you can support your local community by raising funds for our youth development programs while putting your golf skills to the test! This unique event is a fantastic way to impact the lives of our PAL kids while engaging in friendly competition amongst your peers.

Alfred Khayat
In every newsletter, we will be spotlighting a PAL staff member or volunteer. Without them, our PAL programs would not be as successful as they are.
This month we are spotlighting:
Alfred Khayat, Recreation Specialist
Hi everyone, my name is Alfred, and I am a Recreation Specialist for PAL!
I am currently involved with outreach events, Jr. Giants, and supervising youth during our wonderful PAL field trips! I have been with PAL for about two months and have enjoyed every experience!
A fun fact about myself is that, aside from working for PAL, I am also a San Mateo Police Explorer, which has given me the opportunity to become more connected with the PAL program and the community!
Monthly Paw-some Update
Rookie is PAL's Therapy K9. Under the care and watch of Youth Services Officer, Allison Adle, Rookie's duties include comforting victims and witnesses of crime, reducing trauma, increasing wellness, and participating in community outreach particularly involving our youth.

National Night Out on August 1st!
Join SMPD at our FREE National Night Out event on August 1st!
If you want to celebrate America's Night Out Against Crime, but there is no block event happening in your area, join us at the King Center on Tuesday, August 1st from 5:30-8pm for our FREE public event. Always a good time, we'll have Public Safety vehicles, participation by various City departments, resource tablers, our Police Activities League (San Mateo PAL), national sponsors of the event like ADT and Starbucks, McGruff the Crime Dog, music, fun activities and more!
This is our night to celebrate the amazing police-community relationship we have here in San Mateo and how wonderfully we work together to make San Mateo a safe place to live, work and visit.

The Mobile Recreation "Rec 'N Roll" bus will be around all summer!

There will be games and crafts provided by Mobile Rec and there is no cost associated with participating, meaning FREE play all day!
