San Mateo PAL Pulse

Summer Is Here And So Is Junior Giants!

Batter up! San Mateo PAL’s Jr Giants is upon us and Opening Day is on Saturday, June, 17th at Los Prados Park. Chief Barberini will be throwing the first pitch at 8:15am- you won't want to miss it!
Junior Giants promotes confidence, integrity, leadership, and teamwork, which will help our kids thrive in today's society. We hope that instilling the importance of teamwork and community will encourage our kids to stay on the right path. Over 360 participants will partake in practice throughout the week with games every Saturday.
Right now hearts and our rosters are full, and we can't wait to see what this season brings. That said, PLAY BALL!

News and Updates
Mental Health Matters 2023 Was a Success!
Last month SMPAL, Star Vista, and Stride For Awareness hosted Mental Health Matters 2023, a mental health wellness fair and 5K run/walk. It was a fantastic day for hanging out with our local community, learning about mental health wellness resources, and running or walking in the 5K. There were over 550 participants, with over 300 in our 5k run/walk and over 30 vendors! The weather was warm and sunny, and it was the perfect opportunity to get active while supporting PAL kids and programs.
We are so grateful for all the vendors, exhibitors, staff, race day officials, and participants who made this event successful. It means the world to see our local community come together to create awareness about the importance of mental health wellness and SMPAL.

We'd also like to thank our event sponsor, the Mayer Family Foundation, for generously supporting this event and PAL throughout the years. The Mayer family has provided school supplies for our kids at the beginning of every academic year, countless donations that go towards PAL programming, and for showing up to our events to spend time with the PAL community. We could not have achieved our successes without them, and for that we are so thankful.
We had such a blast this year, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
