SMPAL's 23rd Annual Golf Tournament
On Friday, October 7th we held our 23rd annual golf tournament at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links golf course. This golf tournament is a fun and interactive way for donors to support PAL programs. For an entire day, donors got to play a round of golf, eat, drink, and be merry! It's also a memorable time for PAL staff, sponsors, and donors to get to know each other.
Our golf tournament helps us raise funds to support our vital youth development programs and safety net services offered to youth, families, and the local community. For those who could not attend the golf tournament, we also held an online auction for supporters to win one of a kind packages. Packages included autographed sports memorabilia, wine + dine excursions, family fun trips, exclusive high-end jewelry, and more!! We are so grateful for our supporters and we could not have done this critical work without their help. Thank you!

Celebrate "Giving Tuesday" by Supporting San Mateo PAL

Giving Tuesday is on November 29th, and this day, you can join people around the world to support a cause close to your heart. If you are considering donating to a charity before the end of the year, we ask you to donate locally and help build a stronger local community.
This year during Giving Tuesday, we aim to raise $15,000 to help our local PAL youth and families struggling during the holidays and beyond. Every day we offer incredibly low-cost to completely free activities for kids and their parents, helping to improve their mental health, wellness, education, and future outcomes. We support families when they need it most! In addition, we offer many fun experiences for families during the holidays, such as a Santa Brunch, presents, family nights, and gifts delivered by Santa Cop.
But we can’t do this without you! Your support is critical, and every dollar helps! All donations will directly serve the local community during the holidays and beyond! Thank you for being part of the San Mateo PAL team. Together, we can make a difference.

Tracey Unga
In every newsletter, we will be spotlighting a PAL staff member or volunteer. Without them, our PAL programs would not be as successful as they are.
This month we are spotlighting:
Sgt. Tracey Unga, PAL Director
Sergeant Tracey Unga has been a San Mateo Police Officer for over 15 years. She joined the SMPD family in 2007 as a Patrol Officer. In 2010 she was assigned as a School Resource Officer at San Mateo High School, and quickly learned she had a passion for working with youth. Tracey is actively involved in several community programs, and she continues to have a desire to serve and help develop the youth in the San Mateo Community.
Throughout her career, Tracey has volunteered and mentored countless youth over the years, and in 2012, Tracey was recognized as the PAL Officer of the Year. In 2016, Tracey was recognized for her service to our Polynesian San Mateo Youth and received the Peninsula Lions Club Regional Service Award. In December 2018, Tracey was assigned as the Executive Director of San Mateo PAL and is now able to focus on positively changing the lives of youth every day. She brings passion for youth, eagerness to change and positive mentorship to her new role, and is excited to continue to serve the youth in our community. Tracey was promoted to Sergeant in 2021 and now is focused on overseeing the School Resources Officer, the diversion program for first-time youth offenders, and the PAL police and safety programs within the Youth Services Unit.
Tracey, thank you for dedicating your time and effort to PAL and serving our local community. You have helped PAL grow in so many ways and we appreciate you and all that you do!! 🙂
