SMPAL's 23rd Annual Golf Tournament

On Friday, October 7th we held our 23rd annual golf tournament at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links golf course. This golf tournament is a fun and interactive way for donors to support PAL programs. For an entire day, donors got to play a round of golf, eat, drink, and be merry! It's also a memorable time for PAL staff, sponsors, and donors to get to know each other.

Our golf tournament helps us raise funds to support our vital youth development programs and safety net services offered to youth, families, and the local community. For those who could not attend the golf tournament, we also held an online auction for supporters to win one of a kind packages. Packages included autographed sports memorabilia, wine + dine excursions, family fun trips, exclusive high-end jewelry, and more!! We are so grateful for our supporters and we could not have done this critical work without their help. Thank you!

PAL Celebrates Dia De Los Muertos!

Pulse Oct 2022 05

On Saturday October 1st, San Mateo PAL celebrated Dia De Los Muertos at the King Center and it was absolutely amazing. There were live performances, beautiful Ofrendas (an offering table), a car show, a Mercado (market), food trucks, and a Kids Corner complete with face painting. This was a culturally enriching experience and is one of our favorite events to host because it brings the local community together while sharing the Latin American indigenous traditions of honoring the dead. We had so much fun watching the Ballet Folklorico dances and listening to the live band sing. We'd also like to thank all of the sponsors, including One Life Counseling, Banner Fruit Club, the Puro Estilo Car Club, San Mateo County Health Family Health Services, and the food vendors for coming out to support our event. We hope to see you again next year!

Meet Our Staff

Pulse Oct 2022 11

In every newsletter, we will be spotlighting a PAL staff member or volunteer. Without them, our PAL programs would not be as successful as they are.

This month we are spotlighting: Lisa Tartaglia, Development Director

Lisa Tartaglia is the Development Director for San Mateo PAL and has been with the organization since 2015. She is responsible for fundraising, including events, grants, donor stewardship, and marketing. She is passionate about PAL’s mission and the outstanding programs that PAL offers to improve the well-being and outcomes for local youth and families.
Lisa has a BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas and has worked in advertising, event planning, fundraising, and volunteered for many nonprofits over the years. Her career in events and fundraising spans over 20 years. Most notably, she spent five years in Paris, France, with her husband and traveling all over Europe. She is happy to have settled in San Mateo, where she can support the local youth and families in the community in which she lives.

Lisa, you are the heart and soul of PAL and we are SO lucky to have you. Your upbeat attitude and dedication is inspiring and uplifting. Our success would not be possible without your hard work and for that we'd like to say Thank You. WE APPRECIATE YOU!
