Celebrating 25 years of San Mateo PAL

2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the San Mateo Police Activities League, beginning with some of our first activities such as Camping, Judo, Soccer, and Junior Giants in 1997. We have been working hard to build the bond between cops & kids and support youth and families in our community with social, emotional, and physical development opportunities. And now, it's time to celebrate!

PAL for pickleball! 🏓🥒🏐 Did you know that pickleball was invented in 1965? It was created using rules from tennis🎾, badminton🏸, and table tennis🏓.

What a great first pickleball class for our PAL kids! The weather was nice, our instructors were amazing, and the kids had a ...blast. Can't wait to see how their skills improve throughout the course. #SanMateoPAL #PALPickleball #GoLittleRockstars⭐️

Last weekend Stanford University donated 250 tickets to our PAL kids and families to attend the big game against USC. It was a great turnout and a wonderful experience for our PAL kids to experience a college football game! We hope this inspires them to reach for the stars and maybe one day play on... that field. 🏈🏈🏈

Thank you Stanford University for making a difference in our PAL kids' lives!! #SanMateoPAL #StanfordFootball #FamilyFunNight

This year's San Mateo PAL's 23rd Annual Golf Tournament is SOLD OUT! We are thrilled to host 192 golfers and are overwhelmingly grateful and astonished by this generous outpouring of support.

Our PAL charity golf tournament directly supports local kids and families. The proceeds... from this event will continue to enable us to help the community with their increased needs caused by the pandemic, which has widened the achievement and opportunity gaps affecting historically disadvantaged youth and families the hardest.

We could not do this critical work without our donor's and sponsors' continued help! Thank you!

To all of our fur-tastic friends and paw-tastic companions, today we celebrate you! At San Mateo PAL, we are lucky to have @tk9_rookie as well as the support of the SMPD official K9 unit. Thank you for your service and commitment to the community! 11/10... good boys 😆

National Nonprofit Day is commemorated on August 17 to recognize nonprofit organizations' ongoing efforts to serve the local community.

We are honored to be a solid local nonprofit serving youth, families, and the community. We work daily to “Build the Bond Between Cops & ...Kids,” helping kids remain safe, in school, involved in positive activities, and connected to needed services. Our vision includes reducing and preventing youth gang involvement, juvenile delinquency, and economic inequalities and increasing participants’ self-esteem, school performance, mental health, and physical wellness.

Happy National Nonprofit Day to all our wonderful local organizations and to the generous people in our area that support us all! Together, we can make a difference ❤️!

A cookie a day keeps the blues away! 😁🍪🍪🍪

To kick-start the new school year, a few of our staff, San Mateo Police Department Officers, and Explorers stopped by Bayside Academy and San Mateo High School to pass out chocolate chip cookies.

Thank you to our donor ...Esposto's Catering for baking over 800 individually wrapped cookies for this occasion. Everybody loved them and they were delicious!!

Happy First Week of School!

Backpack PALooza 2022 was a hit! This past Tuesday, SMPAL provided backpacks, school supplies, books, snacks, and gift cards to almost 300 PAL-ticipants. 🍎📓📔📙📗🖇✏️🖍🖊

It brings us so much joy to serve our community and to kick off the school year on such a high ...note.

We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to Sally and Mike Mayer + Family for donating 300 Target gift cards. Sally really wanted the kids to have something new for the school year whether it's a new pair of shoes, new clothes, or additional school supplies.

Thank you also to our staff, volunteers, and Cadets for making this event successful. We couldn't have done it without you!

If you'd like to participate in future PAL events like Backpack PALooza, be sure to enroll your child as an active PAL member. Visit our website on how to sign-up!
