Who We Are
Mission
San Mateo PAL is committed to strengthening connections between police officers and kids by providing impactful programs, scholarships, and essential resources that support personal growth today and into the future. Through innovative community collaboration across the Police Department, Parks & Recreation, the City of San Mateo, our Board, and volunteers, we promote the physical, social, and emotional development of young people, preparing them to become confident, capable leaders. By providing access to guidance, tools, opportunities, and scholarships, we empower youth to achieve successful and rewarding futures while contributing to a safe, vibrant, and unified San Mateo.
Vision
What We Do
San Mateo PAL provides a variety of supervised recreational, social, and educational activities for San Mateo youth and their families.

Mentorship
We build mentorship relationships between police professionals and young people to help them navigate adverse life circumstances, mental health issues and potentially at-risk behaviors.

Youth Services Officers
Our Youth Services Officers, also known as SRO's, are assigned to San Mateo public middle schools and high schools. School Resource Officers are police officers, as well as educators, mentors and safety advocates.
Opportunities
We help "level the playing field" for at-risk youth by providing them with access to a wide range of activities and educational enrichment opportunities.
