The Magic of PAL’s Place
PAL’s Place, located at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center (725 Monte Diablo Ave, San Mateo), is a welcoming after-school drop-in center designed to be a true “third place” for teens ages 12 to 17 — a safe, supportive space beyond school and home where they can belong. Every weekday from 3:00–6:00 p.m. (2:00–6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays), teens can stop by to grab a snack, connect with caring mentors, get help with homework, or just relax with friends.

To register for a program you must be a PAL Member.
PAL Memberships are FREE.
What makes PAL’s Place special is the combination of comfort and opportunity. We offer access to healthy snacks, hygiene products and resources many teens can’t find elsewhere, plus fun, creative activities like soap-making, shrink-a-dink keychains, tie-dye, and more. Teens can also enjoy indoor basketball, soccer on the field, various sports equipment, board games and video games. Beginning this year, Youth Service Officers will introduce monthly wellness activities, adding even more ways to support healthy habits.
In a community where many programs overlook this age group, PAL’s Place fills the gap. It’s a vibrant hub where teens are heard, supported, and celebrated — a place that helps them grow, laugh, and thrive.
